Numero 3
I am well on my way to my 3rd real estate sale with settlement happening at the end of this month. Pictured above is a photo of Ben at my first sale open house. As you can tell he thoroughly enjoyed himself and took in all the sites! Now he's 8 months old, Lily is 2½ and they frequently tag along with me while I do real estate. In fact the client I just closed the deal with has seen a lot of my kids lately...so much in fact that Lily requests to see him and his wife almost daily. It's like they're part of the family now! And while it's tricky mixing business and your personal life, I wouldn't have it any other way. Afterall isn't this why I left the Corporate America world in the first place? I specifcally chose real estate as it seemed to be a good fit for my personality and the EveryHome Realty team encouraged me to bring my kids with me if I needed to.
Real Estate kind of reminds me of my ministry days with Young Life. While it's both good and bad, there is such a fine line between your professional and personal world. I'm constantly on call to answer my phone with no real "office hours". My kids tag along to anything I need them to. I'm forced to hold a flexible schedule, frequently changing plans at the drop of a dime to accomodate my clients. But it's worth it. I get to help people buy and sell homes. My kids get to see me help people and get to practice being socialites as well as their manners in strangers' homes. And sometimes I get to tell people about my faith in the midst of it.
And here I am 8 months into the biz and I've listed and sold 1 home and then represented buyers for 2 homes (1 coming up). And just like my full time ministry days I am constantly amazed by how little I know and how much I have to ask the Lord to help me along as I go. My days can be crazy but I really like what I do and am so thankful for the opportunity to do it. I'm also super thankful that people trust me enough to help them buy their homes. What a huge responsibility it is...I am grateful!
